Welcome

This is the welcome video in the video series called Making the move. The series includes 6 videos. The videos are for people with intellectual disability who want to move out of the family home or who have already moved. They offer tips to support people through this journey. They start at the very beginning when you might be thinking about moving. They go right through to settling into your new home. The videos are part of the research project called Choosing the way forward.

Summary of the video

Hi my name is Ben. I’m a co-researcher at Flinders University.

A co-researcher makes sure research is inclusive.

This means people with intellectual disability are included in all parts of research.

I am a co-researcher on the project called Making the Move.

This project is about supporting people with intellectual disability to move out of the home.

I have also moved out of the family home.

In the next 6 videos I will share tips to help you move out.

I will also talk about things you can do once you’ve moved.

These videos are for people with intellectual disability. They have been made by people with intellectual disability.
